Shanthal is a research assistant that works on parent coding for the Niños Sanos Study since fall 2017. She is interested in researching the individual, familial and environmental factors that contribute to eating behaviors and childhood obesity. The increase in the prevalence of childhood obesity has directed her attention on exploring effective interventions to combat the epidemic disease and prevent late onset related chronic conditions. Upon obtaining her bachelor degrees, Shanthal plans to work towards completing prerequisites for medical school. She aspires become a family physician for underserved populations.
